"Fine Tuning Your Guided Reading Instruction"
Individual classroom consultancy
As a follow up to 'Guided Reading Implementation' and the classroom demonstration components, these sessions offer individual teachers a chance to fine tune their Guided Reading instruction. Individual teachers or pairs of teachers will have an opportunity to work one-on-one with Kathie to address specific needs or questions they may have as they are implementing Guided Reading. Possible areas of focus:
- Assessing the instructional level of individual readers
- Accurately choosing the right book for specific students or groups
- Prescriptively assessing needs of individual students or groups
- Strengthening actual Guided Reading plans and steps for specific books
- Planning the questioning with a Guided Reading book
- Managing students, centers, and instruction
- Recognizing and affirming what both teachers and students are doing well!!!
